World War Two - Imperial Japanese Navy

1942. Imperial Japanese Navy propaganda footage with rarely seen shots of the attack on Pearl Harbor. (From www.webalice.it/romanoarchives - devoted to colour footage from WWII.) The beautiful music is the Japanese National Anthem - Kimi ga Yo.

Japan navy......floating targets. Japan pilots......do or die. Hats off to the conviction of the pilots. "if you take me down I am taking 20 of you with me" And this is from an American perspective.

All do respect,, jap army tech was way ahead of USA in WWII. Their boats, airplane, sub etc.. are way better! The reason they lost is obvious, small country, limited resource and also, they have this notion of sacrificing themselves which I find stupid. Why kill urself if you can kill a few more enemy?

Just my opinion!

Japanese tech was not ahead of U.S. tech during the war. They had big ships. Big ships that were vulnerable to U.S. Air superiority and sub attacks.

Japanese planes, mainly the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, were better up until the F6F Hellcat. No American fighter could match the Zero in firepower, range or maneuverability until the Hellcat came around, which changed the whole Air Superiority. Also the F4U Corsair was also a viable option when it came to fighting the Japanese fighters, while also providing excellent ground support.

Another thing, if the Japanese boats were so much better, then how come they were decimated at the battle of Midway? Was it because the Japanese Airplanes couldn`t stop the onslaught of American torpedo bombers? That and the fact that they overrated their navy thinking it was as unsinkable as the Titanic, hubris has a costly price tag.

The Jap carrier didn`t have the fire suppression of the U.S. at Midway. Also the U.S. attacks kept hitting the Japs when they were reloading their planes.

So the hits of the U.S. planes were more effective.

an amazing film from a terrible time. I hope people will not forget that most of these "technological advances" were directed at 15 million people in asia. Manila alone lost 100k civilians in a single month. All non-combatants. For all its worth, the japanese were very determined soldiers but I`m sure glad they`ve suffered a terrible defeat.

I`d like to see that video again but with footage of the atomic bombs exploding in Nagasaki and Hiroshima at the end of it and with the sound track changed to the Stars and Stripes. ;)

Oh and i`m not American.
