man. If you HONESTLY didn`t think driving (yes, thats what he is doing) a buick regal without insurance or proof of ownership would be "alright", then you deserve a smack upside your head and a night in a cell. Even gutted, that car weighed enough to hurt a pedestrian, let alone if you got in an accident you would have no protection.

Funny, but this is even more of a stupid thing to do than driving your bike into a burning leaf patch, because at least then, you`re an honest idiot.

Thing is, it`s a pedal vehicle, not a motor vehicle. You don`t need a licence for non motor vehicles. From unicycle to dodeca-cycle, and beyond. It`s not a motor vehicle. If you mount car parts on your bicycle, pedals on a 4 wheeled couch, tractor tires on your unicycle, etc.. There are no rules if there is no motor.

The cop was wrong, and as far as I can tell, it`s not up to him to judge public safety at whim on the side of the road. If it were, then cycling, walking, jogging, wheelchairs, anything would be subject to arbitrary restriction. All a cop would need to say is "It`s too frosty" or "There`s too much traffic". Doesn`t fly.

I think these clever cyclists should have made him look into the issue further before accepting to pay for a tow.

Correct exploder. Not to mention the fact that non-motorized vehicles have as much a right to the road as motorized vehicles. Bicycles are treated as cars. Just without the whole registering/safety/insurance laws. I`m thinking of doing this now. It`s friggin` sweet. Just gotta figure out how to drive it solo... :gets to work:

Idiots! You have to ARGUE with a policeman if he has no ideea what he`s talking about!! "not even close to being legal"? Are you fucking kidding me? You don`t even need a license to "drive" such a thing. The Geneva Automotive Law (from the `64 convention) states that an automobile is a vehicle powered by an engine bigger than 50cc. The only interdictions are driving on a highway or a road with an implied minimum speed limit.

This "car" has obviously no engine, and therefore, it`s considered a self-propelled vehicle - as a bike would be. A policeman can stop a biker or carriage if: it doesn`t have proper Lights and Brakes - THAT`S ALL THERE IS TO IT!

Flav`s right, that "car" ain`t no car. It`s a bike. It`s NOT required to have any of the requirements that dumb cop was talking about. Under 50cc and you can pretty much do whatever the fuck you want. Drunken Moter Scootering will only get you a PI because it`s not considered DRIVING.

Love the car though, too bad it`s a pain to pedal too far.

It is a frecking huge Bicycle. Bicycles are supposed to act and follow all laws that cars do, cops are frecking retarded. Plus they are safer then a bike they are wearing seatbelts.

The only reason they got pulled over is because they were holding traffic, if they were on some rural roads or something it would not have been the same, which is sad. Though really why use the body of a steel vehicle? If you rigged it up to an aluminum frame, made it thinner, shorter, maybe even three wheels it actually becomes viable.
