Very cool video, yet another intriguing view of our planet. Although it should note that the rising and setting is due simply to the motion of the lunar explorer. The same side of the moon is always facing towards the earth.

^come on, the quality is still amazing compared to any other satellite telescope. with that quality shouldnt the american flag be seen on the moon, among other things that were left behind?

An HD TV camera is not a "telescope." And, no, even from lunar orbit it still ain`t gonna see a flag that`s only two feet across (or even a rover that`s ten feet across). You actually would need a telescope (and a damn good one) on the spacecraft to see such small objects on the surface.

The Mars Reconnisance Orbiter does have an actual telescopic camera (and a rather large one) aboard and it can just barely resolve (from Martian orbit) the probes and rovers that we have landed there.

I suppose I shouldn`t be surprised that people are so clueless about the resolving power of cameras and telescopes, but I`m in the business so it`s just second nature to me.
