It`s not a remake of anything and the monster is 100% orig according to JJ Abrams. There is a lot of speculation but no evidence as far as the monster is concerned.

I`m not sure what I watched. The preview could have been a little more clear on the story. The effects and action looked great.

I like the part in the trailer when the soldiers begin to shoot like crazy at the monster and then it walks between some buildings.

Some time ago, I read a rumor about how the monster wouldn`t appear completely and there will only be glimpses of it from the shaky footage taken by the people and stuff like that... the trailer has that feeling and kinda confirms the rumor.

Hopefully, that`s not completely true coz, IMO, where`s the fun in a giant monster movie where you don`t see the monster?
