Good try there. You think you sounded pretty good there. But alas your still just a pleeb. You have failed to mention that a big part of WoW is PvP which is always challenging and non repetitive. This alone will make the game viable for a long long time.

Retail WoW, is in fact, pretty horrible. Getting to 70 is easy, once you know what you`re doing the grind can be relatively painless and done in afew months.

"Oh, yay, 70, I won!!" This is where the problem comes. The difference between entry level 70 gear, and tier 6 raiding gear (best gear in the game, by far, for both PvE and PvP) is the difference between level 70 and level 1, for all practical purposes, but if you`re lucky enough to *EVER* obtain it (which is highly unlikely), the journey will probably take years of dedication... and it`s NOT REMOTELY FUN!! Raiding is HORRIBLE beyond imagination, even raiders usually don`t like raiding, it`s just what you have to do to get the gear... and most people, even the most hardcore, never obtain the best. You have to be a complete MASOCHIST to enjoy it, seriously.


The way I found fun in the game, at least for a time, was to, for lack of a better word, exploit the PvP system. WoW PvP is set up in a series of brackets. The Battlegrounds start at 10-19, and continue in the x0-x9 fashion till the 60-70 bracket. What I did, was get an x9 character (highest possible level in that bracket) geared up in the best possible equiptment, with the best possible enchants, using the resources of higher level characters, in a matter of weeks in some cases, VS years to have the best gear at 70.

Endless grinding at 70, VS endless PvP at x9... wasn`t a hard choice after seeing what 70 (and first 60, I played for years before the expansion) was like.


Now, I play on a private server... lots of bugs, lots of DC`s, but vendors hand out the best gear in the game like candy, putting everyone on a level playing field... and that makes it better then real WoW, for me, it cuts out the grind, and unlike x9 play, you don`t feel like an asshole (alot of the people you fight as x9 are relatively undergeared and it`s a slaughter... although there`s a large and growing population of x9ers, there`s alot of newbies too). Of course, I`m really good at the game, with years of experience, so even t6 vs t6, it`s still a slaughter, but at least it`s not because of gear... and hey, it`s free, I save myself $15 a month :P

I played eq2 for 2 years... My advice, Do NOT play mmo`s, get a game you can pause or save game. MMO`s eat up your time and give very little in return. The social interaction in mmo`s is a charade at best. You compete against other obsessive compulsive losers, trying to beat them at who can spend more time foolin around in game land, which ultimately brings you down to their level.
F*ck mmo`s! Play super mario brothers instead, or read a good book.
