there are basically 2 extremes: the dictatorship where the government controls everything(Hitler,Stalin comes to mind) and the "free market" where the government and everything else is controlled by the private corporations and we all know the sicko documentary and why corporation control is bad

Being a Non-American, I find Ron Paul very interesting and valid. Hope the people of America make the right choice not just for themselves but for everyone affected by America. Only the 0% tax seems like an impossible idea.

eat_p1e; He is against the Federal Income tax, not all taxes in general... For example, Gasoline taxes pay for all public roads.
Property taxes, and donations pay for police and fire fighters.

0% Federal income tax is 100% plausible if the Federal Reserve did not exist, considering that most, if not all public Federal income tax pays off the intrest made by them lending the government the money. (On the other hand, Federal income tax from corporations pays strickly for the army, and funds (along with the chinese, who invest in the dollar primarely) for our wars. )

As an Aussie who also has to make an electorial decision soon I kinda wish we had someone like this if only to keep the main two bastards honest.

For all the naysayers even if Ron Paul doesn`t win yet shows significant support, enough to get even more younger voters voting next time, that`s still a win. To say that you`d vote for him if he had a chance just empowers the status quo. They know you`re too weak to stand up to them which is exactly the problem you have now.

You`re smart people for the most part so why do you leave it up to the dumbest or most narrow minded of your society to vote in your legislators?

Ron Paul is basically against every single measure that has allowed America to prosper and grow into the a superpower during the 20th century.

In an age when intellectual capital and services are rapidly displacing manufacturing as the dominant generator of economic growth, he wants to value the dollar against a mineral resource.

When an continuing immigrant population has kept the average age of Americans under 40 years of age, thereby avoiding vast demographic, social and economic problems looming in the horizon for Europe, Japan and almost all other non-immigrant developed nations, he wants to make the nation more anti-immigrant than its ever been.

At a time when a globalized economy means a tremendous number of foreign sources for potential purchases, he wants to both further liberalize trade AND take away the income tax, thereby placing the burden of fiscally financing the Federal government squarely on the shoulder of middle class Americans who control less than 10% of this country`s wealth.

What the heck is he thinking????!!!

much of what made us a super power is that we were among the first of countries in the world to industrialize. that means that we are producers and means that since the rest of the world wasnt, they depend on us, thereby giving us inherent power over them. also, nuclear proliferation was another factor in making us superpowers, along with russia. ron paul is for free trade with ALL countries and not being selective in who we trade with, as a FREE-MARKET ECONOMY SHOULD BE. did you take economics 101? if no one country has incentive to trade with another specific country (due to tariffs and other tax-devices) then everyone will benefit because everyone will specialize in what they are best (and most efficient) at producing. yes, that requires the rest of the world follow suit, but arent we supposed to be setting examples anyway?

also, what he wants to do is take away the income tax and replace it with a sales tax. not only that, this sales tax is supposed to be subsidized up to a certain amount to help the middle class with the tax burden. furthermore, every citizen in the country gets this tax shelter. this means that ILLEGAL immigrants dont get it and will therefore have an incentive to become legal. also, who do you think spends more money? the rich or the poor? i am pretty sure taxing the someone on their new yacht at 25% generates more tax revenues than a person buying groceries at 25% sales tax.

thats what he is thinking.
