Michael Harner, in his 1997 article The Enigma of Aztec Sacrifice, estimates the number of persons sacrificed in central Mexico in the 15th century as high as 250,000 per year. You all know that, aside from their gory religious traditions, the Aztecs were really a civilized culture. after all, didn`t they make all those huge temples? If the Spanish and the Aztecs could have exchanged a few ideas, then maybe we would all be a little smarter.

also, some people really need to take this into perspective. maybe future cultures will think back at ours and say, "Sweet Jesus, what the hell were they smoking?" Some people already do. so, if you really think about it, these guys really weren`t all that different from us yanks.
