Too melodramatic for me. I like the subject matter, but shuriken are not deadly, they are scary. A ninja`s weapons tended to be of relatively poor quality because they had to be easily replaced. It sounds like most of their research was done from an encyclopedia.

Still, for a half-hour documentary it wasn`t bad.

Doco was okay. Wish they had more budget to play with. The cheesy and choppyness of it kinda ruined it ;p

^^ dunno about you, but if i get hit with a shuriken in the neck, i think i would die. i can see a shuriken being of poor quality because you need to replace them, but a sword is not a disposable weapon so its would be made to a high quality and be well cared for

^^ ninja study how to use human nature against their enemies. Even a very well thrown shuriken is unlikely to do any damage of significance, but will greatly unnerve an enemy who worries about getting one in the neck.

Ninjas were spies and assassins, and ultimately pragmatists. Only a stupid ninja would risk his life in pitched battle with an opponent (most likely the enemy won`t be alone anyway). There was no need for an expensive sword if a scrap of iron could accomplish the same task, but wouldn`t pain you to throw it away when you try to get through a guard checkpoint masquerading as something other than an armed assassin.

I agree that it doesn`t fit the common mythos of the ninja, especially since, as Mike Oh mentioned, TMNT. I`m sure most pop culture references would agree with you too. Its just more fun to think of ninjas like that.

The only redeming factor of this documentary is that the majority of the viewers realize that its a great work of fiction. I`d weep to see which their list of research sources (if it exists...)

i found this doco went no where. it was just like a short history on the ninja with random facts about them that meant nothing to do with what we being portrayed in the main story. it was like it was done by a 8th grader.

interesting non the less.
