I`d have to say, soldiers back then were alot more physicly fit and able then they are now, but campaigns now aren`t fought how they use to be.

^Whats wrong with homeschooling? Public schools have gotten worse and worse, now they are to the point of being useless, the A+ students of today would be the equivalent to the D students 40 years ago...

You may think you are better off with a private school but its like the same thing as a homeschool except with more kids around and it costs thousands more.

Worries about social and academic achievement are common when homeschooling comes up. Rest assured, though, that the *vast* majority of research out there shows that homeschoolers achieve as well *if not better* than their public (or even private) school peers.

The degree to which military and corporate interests are still tied to mainstream education isn`t the only reason to homeschool, but it`s one good one...

Note to Led Zeppelin below: Most folks have probably met, like, two homeschoolers. Then they generalise about all homeschoolers based on that. Again, though, the research does not support your bias.

And in case you think I`m guilty of the same thing re: the military, I grew up in a military family. Dad was a career officer, brother followed in his footsteps. My dad died early, some of the "cannon fodder" I mentioned. He mourned the day my brother chose that career, knowing it`s a deal with the devil.

Yep, get nice and fit before you join up, boys! Might be the last time that beautiful body works as well, or at all...

I like how government schoolers are so afraid of homeschoolers, it`s almost religiously intolerant; ignorant, prejudiced, and completely close-minded.
I was homeschooled and was in college classes by the time i was 15, acing them. (not some idiot humanities classes either, we`re talking chemistry)

Soldiers then had to march miles per day in virtually hard-plastic shoes, carrying enough weight to live off of for months at the same time. Not to mention the fighting.

Soldiers now are airlifted everywhere, shipped or driven. They are more intellectually trained, how to think fast and aim accurately in a heartbeat; how to spot behavioral differences common in non-uniform combatants, the list goes on for miles.

We`re not using brutes, we`re using men.
