Nitrogen Triiodide Detonation

Nitrogen triiodide, also called nitrogen iodide, is the chemical compound with the formula NI3. It is a sensitive contact explosive: small quantities explode with a gunpowder-like snap when touched even lightly, releasing a purple cloud of iodine vapor.

Dude, she said when NI3 is dried it is sensitive. So you place the wet compound(very wet) on the rings...than let it air dry.

Ah, on the older series` of Brainiac, there was a feature on them about a dude with exploding paste....this would be the same stuff, since only the dry compound is sensitive.

hold on... if it is so sensitive to even the slightest vibration, how do you ever move it around or put it on the plate as seen in the vid? Sure it would explode before you even took it off the shelf???

Yes, it`s not sensitive when it`s wet.. and it`ll become sensitive when it`s air dried.... now, what happens if there is a slight wind current flow through the drying powder.. BOOM?!?
