hard to say whether blue ray will get owned or not, its safe to say HD will win the major market, with less exspensive players however, Blue Ray will be around maybe not in movies, but games for sure with the PS3 , so as far as Sony is concerned its not a massive loss to there market.

In reality its still early even after a year of both the HD players and Blue ray players being on the market, companies are still tossing on what format to support. Dreamworks a major supporter of Blue Ray from the early going dropped them a few months back. Though Disney still supports Blue ray which in itself is huge because all the kids movies. that they release and re-release all the damn time. HD`s biggest supporter has to be the Porn market.

HD players are the most affordable since release of the 2 players, however Buying a PS3 is a lot less expensive then buying the Blue Ray player. "Go figure" you can buy a dual player that supports both blue ray/ HD but i`ve never tried one myself so i wouldn`t be able to say how good they are, but i like that thought of it makes choices easier.

Now there has been talks about TV companies making all there channels in HD alone, if that does happen and it eventually will you`ll see alot more players being sold because tv`s will all be in High Definition. even now its hard to find TV`s that aren`t HD or HD ready. Tube Tv`s are almost non-existent except for the shitty tv`s like coby`s/magnasonics and some toshiba`s. when this all happens i think then we`ll know what format wins.

I myself have the full HD set up but i kinda hope the Blue Ray format wins. i mean Larger disc sizes are huge it would make room for improvements beyond 1080P. and if you ever get a chance to compare an HD movie to a blue ray movie. the blue ray does have a better picture up close and far away.

Betamax only lost out to VHS because despite Beta having a much higher video quality, it had alot less storage space because of it, vhs sacrificed quality to gain more space. Blu-ray however supercedes HD in both quality and storage space.

of course some stupid xbox fanboy was going to come bash sony. seriously its like they are jealous or something i dont see many ps3 owners bashing the xbox as viciously as 360 fanboys bash the ps3. I could say a lot of bad things about xbox especially how its disc is so small they are having trouble fitting assassins creed onto 1 disc and xbox cant switch to their hd-dvd discs because there system doesnt come equip with an hd-dvd player. u could buy their 200 dollar piece of shit but that doesnt even play games. PS3 has a better line up of games the xbox will be over by the end of the year.

Wow... that`s awesome.
I`m not old enough to remember this commercial. But I do remember the brief moment that my rich neighbors had Laser-Disc... that seemed like the coolest thing in the world to me
