Why don`t we just build space ships, pick a fight with some bad ass aliens, and then use the spent Uranium as ammunition. Problem solved. Anyway pretty cool that they can recycle the spent Uranium. That would save huge amounts of money and materials.

OR we could just have a global nuclear waist chugging competition of some sort... sure many would die, but we might get a Spiderman or 2 :D

^ I thought spiderman was created because a radio active spider bit him, not from chugging on nuclear waste, you will need dump all the waste on billions of spider eggs and somehow get them to bite people... which sounds awesome so im all for it.

the brilliant plan was to stow it all in a mountain?!? Who`s stupid idea was that? I wonder if a simple Wikipedia search of the mountain installation under construction would yield the name of the persons that don`t belong in our gene pool.

A glacier, a mountain, under the ocean... there isn`t a single place on the planet we could put this stuff that is "responsible" and wouldn`t f*k any other life up. It seems pretty obvious that it must be removed from the planet.

I think a space barge on a collision course with our sun would be a good plan. It doesn`t have to even move fast, just so long as it eventually reaches the sun and is converted to energies we can re-absorb and re-use on earth.

The only problem i see is that it is still too expensive to get anything into space. So I would then guess that this is another situation an industrial space elevator could keep continuous flows of any waste directly to a platform that could redirect the contents on to a collision course with the sun.

Sure I`m stoned, but does anyone else think this could work?

stn, I hear you. The only problem is there is so much already it would take thousands of launches even with a space elevator to rid the planet of what`s already here. Putting cost aside, the cost of keeping it is much greater, the research of how to recycle is awesome... now pass me (if it`s the good green stinky shit) that joint! ;-)

I though that the vastly biggest part of radioactive waste was contaminated materials and tools used in the handling and use of the fuel rods, not the fuel rods themselves???

smart ppl are trying to solve worldwide problems that affect future generations, why are they picked on in school, like what george carlin said in that one clip

Lol, I like how in the entire documentary it didn`t sound like radioactive waste was all that bad. Or how they didn`t detail that putting it in the ocean is retarded (kills all the life there) or putting it in a mountain is also retarded (contaminates ground water, although it could be contained well enough i suppose)
And yes the idea of throwing it at the sun in the hopes of solving the problem has been around for a while, problem is ever considered how much fuel a space craft burns up to get out of earths gravitational pull?

Also i don`t know if its my lack of concentration or did they never actually say how effective this recycling process is?

I think the Shooting it into Space idea is more practical. Dead aim to the Sun and POOF. It`s not like we can make the Sun even more radioactive than it is by dumping nuclear waste on it...

just imagine if we do decide to send it all out to space. and since no one is manning the ship it suddenly goes off course and explodes in the sky... raining nuclear waste over the world.. hmm that would be a cool movie

and Lord Slavik they said it would reduce the waste by 90%

nuclear waste has lots of other potential uses this breaking apart and recylcing is a great idea europes been doing it for years
