More Important SpikedHumor Update

This update is for people who never read the Important SpikedHumor Update.
People have been jumping to conclusions all over the place, so let me clear a few things up.

With regards to the flash video system...

You must have Flash Player 8 installed in order for SpikedHumor videos to work for you.

Keep in mind that there are certain operating systems that don't work with Flash Player 8.
We may end up having to make SpikedHumor's Flash Player with version 7 if we can't tackle the conflict.

To check what verison of flash player you have, click here.

We are still unsure if we will offer a way to manually download videos, so please stop asking if we are going to do so. The most likely scenario would be for us to implement profiles for each user to store links.

No. We're using the flash system so that we can control the video compression. The site is using a ton of bandwidth and we need to reduce it.

As alluded to in this article, the latest version of macromedia flash player for linux is 7.x. It'd be better if there was no flash system until the customized version is ready. I can't view any video with the temporary system at all.

This is how you can download them;
Right click, then hit view source.
Then go edit, find. Find "embed" then look around the embed tags for media that will look like this: http://media.spikedhumor.com/........ then copy the link paste it in google or something, search then it will give to a link that you can right click then hit: save link as.
Takes a minute, but if you really want to download them, you can

I love the new Flash system, works great, and if it helps the site, i see no down side. If your crappy linux box wont run it get a Windows emulator and get Flash 8....seriously how is it the sites problem if 3% of it's user run Linux and cant watch the videos. Its not.

I gotta say that I used to download a lot of the different videos to show friends and stuff when they came over and I was kinda pissed when this whole flash player thing came around because I couldn't do that anymore. But the thing is the videos load a hell of a lot quicker, cuts down on bandwidth and if I just remember the name of the video I want to see I just hop right to it. So I think it is fine and dandy and like thirdclassrebel stated there is always a way to download them if you really want them.

I dont mind the new system at all, but i will love it when a volume control bar is added. Loading times dont matter to me cos my internet is uber fast, id rather have good quality than short loading times anyway.
