I remember waking up from camping on day to a sound of huffing and puffing, I thought i was my buddy so I went back to sleep. About 2 minutes later a dude started honking his horn. I jump out and run out of the tent just to hear people yelling "bear". I didn't believe them so I ran down the path to see it, sure enough a bear was just standing up the path looking at me. I started jumping and growling like you see cavemen doing in the movies and the bear just ran off. It was a great experience. Animals are amazing, esp big huge ones that can kill ya with one paw swing.

^that was actually not that big of a bear, but i am sure you'd still shit yer pants.

As stupid and funny as it sounds, when mountain biking up in the BC hills, whenever I thought there was a bear around i'd just bark like a couple of dogs would sound like, mix it up a little so it sounds like there are a few. I've yet to see a video of a bear chasing a dog, so i thought it might help. Just happy I was never thrown in the nuthouse.

Jesus christ, I've seen plenty of bears (both brown and grizzly) up pretty close while biking and hiking here in BC, even had one on my deck before, but this is INSANE!
Good reason to carry bear bangers and spray on hikes.
