Fucking amazing movie, I never tire of watching it. Johnny Depp portrayed Hunter S. Thompson 100% accurately. Watch some interviews with Thompson and you'll see what I mean.. though they were close friends.. he's good at acting like his buddies :P

^ yes johnny depp NAILS the role of hunter s thompson and the great thing is, this movie is a true story of how he goes to vegas to do a story on a motorcycle race, though that has NOTHING to do with the movie lol

^ Hehe, yeah man! Well it's actually more fiction in a sense.. it's a group of events that happened around the time and it's his perception of it. I read a very interesting article written by a close friend of Thompson but this was a long time ago. It deciphers the movie rather well..
To sum it up and sadly dumb it down, it explained how the event's in the movie were all chunks of a large part of his life both things he imagined and that happened all warped in to what he truly to be an event taking a few days. The movies actual time set takes place over months and months!
So yes it's mostly a work of fiction based on the twisted mind of Thompson through his own perception of his reality.

It`s a great film, no matter what you`re on.

This scene has always been one of my top favorites, especially for the awkward man and his reaction to what he thought he had witnessed.

I heard somewhere that Thompson told Depp to portray him as a caricature, and not as he really is. He told him something to the effect of, "If you play the art as ME, I`ll fucking kill you, you understand?"
