okay a few tips for all of you guys who want to make this for chicks. The biggest mistake people make when making cosmo's is they use too much cranberry juice. Its supposed to be pink, not red.

Thats twist of lemon at the end isnt necessary if you add lime juice. If you make it without lime juice then you need to use that twist at the end. The juice from the lemon peel helps to cut the sharp taste of the liquor and make it more smooth tasting. either way, its traditional to have that lemon twist in the glass just for appearance. it can also be placed on the rim.

I worked at a bartender for 4 years at fancy restraunts so I definately know how to make all these dumb fancy drinks that chicks like. All the daiquiri's, pina coladas, cosmos, margarita's, etc. i'm a pro for those. Unfortunately not many people order shots at fancy restraunts so I don't know jack about making shots. i wish i did :(

...shaking a cosmo? The customer had better have asked for it shaken, in their best James Bond impersonation. You get a real martini drinker, even a cosmo drinker, and you're gonna be told to pour it out, and make it again, the right way.

the right way? lol martini drinkers are stupid, shaken and stirred are both legitimate ways to make it. If a customer actually told me to remake a cosmo because its shaken i'd want to punch them in the face. In martini's some people make comments that shaking it 'bruises' the gin/vodka and all kinds of bullshit like that. They deserved to be kicked in the nuts too. The only difference between shaking and stirring is that shaking properly makes small chips in the ice cubes when shaking. These very small ice chips float in the drink when poured and some people might not like that.

either way, if someone gets all pissy about a drink being shaken instead of stirred then they need to be bitchslapped

yes i do succ33d, but i wanted to empasize the main mistake people screw up when making the drink. 90% of bars i've been too make lousy cosmo's too (no i didnt order it, but i could tell by the color when seeing other people's drinks) It was worth me posting to empasize that this is the biggest mistake people make. The guy also didnt explain the reason for the lemon twist.

you always shake a cosmo unless asked for one stirred. a martini is always stirred unless asked to be shaken. the reason isnt because of bruising or ice chips in the drink, it's because shaking causes the drink to be a bit more watered down due to the ice cracking and melting, which also makes it a bit colder. stirring is used to just give the drink i slight chill.
the lemon twist thing... it has nothing to do with whether or not you've used lime juice. the peal is a garnish and should always go in the drink or on the rim. he twisted it just to give it that little bit of extra tartness, every bartender has their own little tricks to a drink like that. you can also use an orange slice/peal or cherry, pretty much whatever you have handy to make it look pretty.

They're not girly drinks.
I think some of them taste very nice.
Infact I love drinking Sex on the beach, but then again call me what you want to call me...I'm a regular Jack Coke Drinker.
If its not from the bar, its Blood Red oranges and a full bottle of Smirnoff (great taste).
I hate the whole girly, manly bullshit ... if you wanted to be a man you'd buy the cheapest full bottle of vodka and down it even if it tasted like Nail thinner (i've been there...*puke*)
