That guy is a moron: 0.27 he goes for the main parachute release system (watch as the instructor to his right suddenly goes forward to try to pull his arm away from the release) instead of the parachute deployment system (his PC in the BOC for you skydivers out there), essentialy by doing that he cuts away his own chute. Then he's too stupid to realize where the handle for the reserve is.
Next up is his parachute landing: all skydive students have a radio in which the instructor guides you to the dropzone, the guy was probably deaf or just froze up under his canopy and didn't even made an attempt to steer his canopy.
In other words boys and girls this guy wasn't unlucky he was just plain dumb. This Scott Lutz is a well known (hated) figure in the skydive community because afterwards he tried to sue those instructors (two times) who actually saved his dumb ass.

To give you an idea of how much the guy is ridiculed:

His name even became an expression in our skydive community: "doing a lutz" meaning to make the mistake of grabbing the wrong handle and cutting away your main parachute.

Or a term: "Lutzism", examples of lutzism are:
-Your idea of hanging out is to do it on a power line
- ...you sue Goodyear when your tires wear out.
-...when you lose you sue the city for making paved roads.
- When its time to make an important decision, you dont
-Loser + Putz = Lutz
- You might be a lutz if everything bad which happens to you is someone else's fault, and you sue because of it
- ...you consider sueing yourself because you failed to win two bogus lawsuits....
-Don’t be A Lutz Putz!
- You might be a Lutz if: You pull off your pecker and toss it in the toilet after taking a piss.
