I'm so tired of this. There are skinny women, with big boobs, nice butts, and nice skin on advertisements because that is what attracts the vast majority of men. Now you can go on here and talk all about how good you are on the inside. But I don't see any of you head over heels for Oprah, or Mother Teresa. Yet, I see lots of Jessica Alba, and Beyonce pictures on this site. It's pure hypocrisy. Advertisers put what you want to see. That's just how it is. If a girl has a low enough self esteem to where they are throwing up, getting too much plastic surgery, or not eating period, that's their fault. Nobody blames anyone else when druggies have issues, nobody blames anyone else when homeless people don't get a job. Don't blame the media for putting the perfect women on an advertisement (with a little bit of photoshop) blame the girls for thinking they absolutely have to look like that.

^angela, the reason there are so many obese people in Amreica (and England) is because of advertisement full stop.
I have always believed advertising harbors the greed in us by the natural evolution of corporations:

- Only the most sucessful company in any industry will survive
- When it comes to supurfluous/unnecessary products (like beauty, soda, fast-food, designer clothes etc.) Only the best company at advertising will be sucessful.

At the same time, by companies creating this demand by targeting the masses, there are some who are over-influenced by this. But these people are ideal for the corporations...

Corporations are by law obliged to put their own interests before people's interests. How can that be good???

And Dove _ARE_ better than this for bringing people's attention to this fact, but they still aren't really helping - because they still want us to buy their products!

I'm not against corporations - just persuasive advertising.

I don't feel any need to blame the advertising for girls getting anorexia and bullemia.It's advertising.You have to appeal to the people.It's common sense.You don't see fat chicks advertising for diet pills,do you?i mean,none of them are the "after" picture in those advertisements.if you're advertising for the medicines to make boobs larger,you'd get scarlett johansson or something.it's our idea of the perfect woman,or women.It's wrong judgement by the girls to think they have to go to extremes to look like that.
