Who gives a shit? This is a man who always talked about living the gangsta life. Then he died by those words. 2pac, too. They contributed nothing to society except for some average rap music. It's not like they were goddamn prophets or anything.

Nothing against them personally, but there are hundreds and hundreds of unsolved murders each year. What makes Biggie so special?

^he was a rapper who also talked about his life instead of talking about money and his new shoes all the time, although tupac was a better rapper who motivated and helped his community by showing what gang violence does to them.

shug night was the one who was belived to have shot biggie. The police probably know who shot him, but if they released names, it would just result in more violence among east and west.

"Attack with the Mac, my left hand spit, right hand
grip on the whip, for the smooth getaway
Playa haters get away or my lead will spray
Squeeze off til I'm empty, don't tempt me"

Yup, that's B.I.G rapping about how he's gonna kill people. See? He was just like every other gangsta rapper in the '90s.

Chris Rock was right. The government hates rap and black people.Add them together and you have 2 unsolved murders stretched from 10-11 years ago.Fuck,Tupac got shot on the Las Vegas Strip and Biggie was shot in LA.To paraphrase Chris Rock "More people saw them get shot than more people watched the last episode of Seinfeld!"

and to answer your question,Monstiere81,Biggie and Tupac were 2 of the greatest rappers in the history of music.Their lyrics and songs inspired many people, regardless of the inspiration being good or bad.Anyone who can inspire so many people in a few years certainly has my vote.

And please, like those two were messengers of god.that's the definition of a prophet.check the meaning of the word before using it.

and for what makes the murders of Tupac and Biggie so special was that they were just celebrities. If David Bowie or Santana or Usher or whoever the fuck you listen to get shot it'll be on the news.Look at Pavarotti,he died and it was all over the news, and what contribution has he made other than sing some operas?Shit,Britney Spears' performance at the VMAs was enough to send the journalists nuts.

For every rhyme quoted that speaks of violence, I can match it with one along the lines of --

"While we out here, say the hustler's prayer, if the game shakes me or breaks me, I hope it makes me a better man, take a better stand, put money in my mom's hand, get my daughter this college plan so she don't need no man, stay far from timid, only make moves when your hearts in it, and live the phrase 'sky's the limit'.."

It's 2 sides of the same coin. Everyone, at some point in time, feels positive about their surroundings and wants to offer something positive to the world, to make a contribution to humanity. At other times, those exact same people are mad at the world and don't give a shit about being positive, because all they can think is what a rough time they're going through. Those are the days when anger comes out.

Maybe people idolize them because they've found a way to channel those emotions into their art instead of actually being out there every day committing crimes. You don't idolize the guy who robbed the corner store. But maybe you idolize the guy who realized he can provide for himself and his family by expressing the emotion BEHIND what might drive someone to rob the corner store, without actually having to do it, without hurting anyone.

Why is this so complicated for people?

Yeah...so. If they weren't so good then why...
A) Is Tupac the #1 selling rap artist of all time?
B) Is B.I.G's second album (released 15 days post-humously) one of 5 albums EVER to go Diamond, in the top 500 albums of all time (Rolling Stone Magazine), and why was it the highest selling rap album in existence until 2006 (Almost a decade after his death)?

B.I.G was an incredible rapper. His meter and choice of words were phenomenal. RIP.

maybe it's because they glorified killing and being killed, that so many don't care that they got killed.

(I don't think tupac is actually dead yet)
