I thought it was clever, but unfortunately things dont happen that easy. Sorry to disappoint you all who thinks this was a better ending, but you know absolutely nothing.
Let me tell you that the Eagles to have minds of their own, just sit and think for a bit about that. Now, imagine asking them to fly over a land filled with the enemy who would be happy to kill you for any reason, or no reason. Then think that if you dont survive (which you more than definitely wouldnt) then all of Middle-Earth is doomed. Would you want to feel that guilty?
Frodo had to take the ring because he was the least subjectable to its draw of power. Hate to break it to you, but J.R.R Tolkien wasnt renown for writing shitty stories. If you dont like it, then dont read it. But for those of us who appreciate real story telling (and that is exactly what it is, STORY TELLING), then let us enjoy the series. Whoever calls Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit dumb ever again should be kicked swiftly in the kidney. I feel sorry for you because you dropped out of high school and didnt get a real education so you could appreciate the finer things in life. But just because you dont understand the story or think it was "too long" then dont demean the story, just your own mind.

i agreee w/ weezel and the point of the dues ex machina..
im not religious but tolkien was..
the point was to show god's intervention in your life when youre at your frailest point thats why he wrote it
and this ending's good to have a chuckle at it but dont critisize one of the best composed works of literature of all time because you thought this clip was more practical

I fucking loved it! Hilarious! But why do we have to fight it out? Yeah the story was long, but its also worthwhile! I think the maker of this video made this so we all could enjoy it! Not slug it out like a bunch of assholes! Enjoy it for what it is, and dont look for a deeper meaning because their is none! I give it a 5/5!
