That was actually a fitting punishment, I mean if you steal you deserve a bit of a beating. But I'm glad they didn't just go to town on him while he was tied up. What were they saying to him? It looks as if they're doing the right thing and after giving him a slap upside the head, talking to him and letting him know what he's doing is wrong. You'd be surprised how often that can work, if you make the thief respect you using reason.

And this is coming from someone who's had someone break into his home and try to steal from him. And I fucking hate thieves.
After a bit of an "attitude adjustment" I talked to him and explained how it would affect people. He told me his story and that he'd been spray painting garages in the neighborhood as well. He actually came back that weekend at my request and helped repaint the wall of 2 garages. A little talking and reason can go farther than you may think.
