mmm mmmm mmmm....licking old soup can lids

an old past time of mine...

I remember going out one night, I believe it was a Thursday in mid-November because of the blustery wind that met me as I came out of the POW/MIA club after darts practice, and bumping into a bunch of old vagrants looking to score some grimy tin cans under the I-55 overpass near division street. They seemed like a nice bunch of chaps, all but one wearing tattered children's gloves. After a little wait, the local soup kitchen deposited their goods in the scrap metal depository next to the recycling center. Oh, how we descended upon those grimy, creamed-corn encrusted cans like so many wolves after a wounded hare. I faught for my share with the non-gloved one, and with a swift kick to his inner knee I was on my way to a night of tongue blistering, can licking bliss.

Needless to say, when I woke up the next morning (in a puddle of my own vomit and piss...and least I think it was mine) I headed straight for the red-cross. Cheers to you, malnourished Sudanese refugee children.
