kudos to Whoopi for not laughing at the unexpected answer...I think she expected a quick.."no the world is not flat", then she's off to her next point in the argument...I can only imagine what Whoopi thought when she said "I don't know".....ERM.....WHAT?!?!?! This chick doesn't know?!?!?!

Maybe they're talking about the "flat world" as Thomas Friedman talks about the flat world. You know, the more globalized the world economy gets, the easier it gets to communicate, work, get and put out information into the world's mainstream. It's "flat" in the sense that the playing field is "flat."

... Or they can be arguing something that was laughable even in 1492.
