^correct - but Sony's publicity and software company support was infinitely better than Atari could ever muster. so the chip architecture was not a major issue is the success of the Jaguar. Think back to the Amiga32 - The worlds official 32-bit CD console? Maybe not... but then look at the Playstation which is now iconic.
