yeah the rape of nanking is terrible, sons forced to rape their mothers, children hung upside down so that soldiers could skin them and feed their flesh to dogs, 80,000 naked and raped corpses of women laying in the street...

apart from weapons, one of the biggest industries in Japan was condoms, used for the chinese/korean sex slaves-sometimes as young as 8-being raped 70 times a day. And more civilians in this atrocity were killed by the samuri sword ALONE than both atomic bombs combined.

read anything on the rape of Nanking, my favorite source would be "Flyboys" by James Bradley, that book focuses on Japanese and American war atrocities, mostly around the bombardment of Chichi jima. I've done alot of research on this so called "Forgotten Holocaust" and I have a page full of sources from an essay I wrote I'll look around for it for you.

its amazing no one has heard of this, everyone is focused on Nazi atrocities when the Japanese killed (if my estimates are correct) 3 times more people than the Nazis dead and in my opinion many more twisted ways that make Mengele's experiments seem like nothing. A Doctor working for a university in Tokyo brought captured US pilots into his classroom for his medical students and performed experiments on them while they were alive and conscience. Like opening their skull and inserting a blade into their brain and twisting it just to see which limbs twitched. Another had his an artery in his chest sliced open so that they could see how fast he would drown in his own blood. One story that has always stuck in my mind was that a US airmen was stripped naked and thrown into a cage to be displayed in a zoo.

I too have read a book on the rape of nanjing. By the time I finished it I was really fucking disturbed and felt sick.
One account that stuck to my mind, was of a young boy who's stomach was cut open and intestines dragged out because he protested the seizing of his mother for rape. Someday, Japan will admit to their past crimes.

there are over a thousand people on that shrine convicted of war crimes, and no one's raising an uproar. at the end of 8th grade, one of my classmates had to spend the first 3 months of his freshman year with a private counselor because he drew a swatstika and some shitty portrait of hitler on someone else's yearbook. granted, the kid was a douche, but the fact that one preteen can shave his head and be heil hitlered his way into a shrink's office, while an entire fucking country's government stands at attention next to a shrine of war criminals is beyond me.

if i'm being honest, i'm not that shocked that there isn't too much conversational intolerance from the US and EU about this stuff. i guess it really is hard to care about atrocities when they're not committed against your nation...but to have people with supposedly modern morality and sensibilities still refuse to apologize for, denounce, or even acknowledge the nanking massacre is a slap to the face of humanity itself.

I've always been wondering just what kind of experiments one man could do with another during the holocaust. It's totally shocking to hear that something else was going on at the same time, worse. It's unbelievable that so many anti social behaviors or incompetence can get away with running the world at the same time.
