So the church goes around the world, raping, pillaging and plundering, embarking on crusades, inquisitions and witch-hunts, clothing the naked "savages" who they they brainwash to loathe their nakedness, bleeding the world of its wealth, treasures and resoures in order to fund gold-encrusted cathedrals and opulent lifestyles for it's leaders. And then expect some credit for working this woman ragged, bleeding her dry trying to solve problems (many of which are the church's fault in the first place) that, with its wealth, the church could long, long ago have done away with.

Given all she went through, it's amazing Mother Theresa ended up just an atheist. She could easily have ended up a Satanist.

That Bill Donahue came off looking like a total ass. What was with the "An Englishman doesn't interrupt an Irishman" spiel all about? Its people like him that like to define themselves with segregatory terms to feel good about himself. No one gives a crap if you're Irish, or if you define yourself that way. Take you're heritage and BURY IT, just like your religion.

no just the christen faith is still powerfull but she is staying that the faith now adays is getting destroyed and destorted to make money like the tv evangelists, and the whole money skeem that it's sickening to see a wonderfull faith be destroyed by horable people. Who make a mockery of hitting someone on the head to say you are healed "now give me your money" (because we made this religion a large cult.)
And they can belive that they will be saved for all there richeousness of saving humanity but they will git the for exploiting the weak minded people saying ( give me money and and prays the lord or this bible was touched my mother Theresa so pay up)
well this wasn't started this way it was brought on by the global capitalist market. these acts are not accepted in this fiath and will be punished.

Among the People of the Book are some who believe in God, what has been sent down to you and what was sent down to them, and who are humble before God. They do not sell God's Signs for a paltry price. Such people will have their reward with their Lord. And God is swift at reckoning. (Surah Al 'Imran: 199)

^ Ever noticed how anyone with a religious backing tends to have broken paths in their neural structuring? Maybe that's why they begin to sound like parrots. ERROR Repeat previous statement. ERROR Logic Failure: Repeat statement again. ERROR Loop of BS initiated.

How cool was Hitchens in that interview, though ... so calm, very impressive. Loved how he didn't even address the point at the end, just corrected the guy for saying "Chris" instead of "Christopher".

5/5 for Hitchens usual genius and Mother Teresa for the Atheism, beautiful.

5/5 for Hitchens. Donohue is a tool. You don't debate Hitchens, you just line up to be owned.

^^burritosupreme5: Im not sure what you are trying to say except that you believe that religions asking for money is a result of capitalism. It is actually the other way round. Religions wouldn't exist if there weren't money to be made from them. I challenge anyone to name a religion that doesn't collect money from its members.

I agree though - giving money to religions is stupid. If god is omnipotent, why does he need you to give money to his so-called representatives? Has he created an item so expensive that even he can't afford it?

So by Bill Donahue's own requirements, the Bible isn't relevant and would get an 'F' in an English class as well. There isn't one endnote, footnote, or citation that backs up any of the crap that spews forth from it!

We already know that the Catholic League’s Bill Donohue is an embarrassing buffoon that talk shows love to book because he says repulsive things in defense of the Catholic Church and will smear anyone with his anti-Catholic rhetoric for political and monetary gain.

As an Englishman again, you have to be quiet when an Irishman speaks.

She said the awards are worthless to her.

Listen, you want to take it outside, Christopher, that’s fine.”

What’s interesting about this clip is when he’s confronted by an equally obnoxious character who will not be bulldozed by Bill’s tactics, he immediately wants to ” take it outside” and duke it out. It’s typical behavior of this strain of right wing, Christian Conservatives. (It looks like MSNBC scrubbed these remarks from their transcript. -http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20496581/ I don’t usually believe that this happens on purpose most of the time, but I’m not certain in this case.)

Radar has more…Christian Donohue Says He’ll Slap Bejesus out of Athiest Hitchens

p
So what exactly did it mean?

“It meant, if you want to keep it up, I’ll sock you,” Donohue tells Radar, adding that the comment was “part of the theatrics of entertainment—this wasn’t PBS, after all.”

Hitchens Responds to Donohue

Christopher Hitchens responds to Catholic League president Bill Donohue's offer to "take it outside" on Hardball and an offer to get a drink, issued via Radar ...
"Didn't hear Donahue say that ["You want to take it outside, Christopher, that's fine...."] and wouldn't have made anything of it if I had: his assumed Irishness and his bid for the Gerry Adams vote isn't going to help him or his rapist-sheltering Church. Also, both of us are Americans and this is no time for tribalism. He did once write to me to say that my essay on abortion in Vanity Fair was the best thing he'd read on the subject, so he knows how to be generous and doesn't realize that it's his religion that prevents him from being a better person. He also forgets the biblical reminder that Christians must expect to be mocked and derided for their implausible beliefs and even be glad of the abuse: an injunction which makes nonsense of a special-pleading and self-pitying outfit like his own. That said, a measure of Guinness or a shot of whiskey wouldn't be refused on my side.

"I do sometimes ask myself if the Church actually licenses him as a spokesman. I presume they could tell him to desist if they wanted to and that (as Dorothy Day once admitted about The Catholic Worker) he'd have to pipe down in such a case. So—are we allowed to assume that he speaks for the The Faith? It seems to make my job too easy if so.

"You are welcome to use all of this or none of it but not—I stress not—to use an excerpt."

Mother Theresa was actually a sadist, she kept people in the absolute shittiest of conditions because at the time she had faith she believed that you had to suffer and know no luxury to truly be close to the J-man.
All her money was spent on religious activities, not the poor, nor was she interested in curing any of them while she had the money to do so.

I admire Hitchens' eloquent way of arguing a point.

What the hell was that "You have to be quiet when an Irishman talks..."? What a prick. Such a nice representation of the Catholic church.

I'm 50/50 Irish/German and I think Irish people are the most stubborn, closed minded, ignorant assholes and are a disgrace to the white race.

They were so fucking weak and dumb that the English just fucking walked all over them and took their land. Survival of the fittest.

I'd take this fat clown out on the street and shove a Holy Cross up his ass and piss on his face.

Then burn the bible right in front of that Irish piece of shit and demand he shine my shoes.

((carrotfire)) - it would be nice to give your description of the video without the dick joke in favor of one of the guests. I will make up my own damn mind about which one smacks the other in the face. Thank you!

If Christopher Hitchens thinks I'm stupid for believing in a personal God and his Son, then I'll consider that a badge of honor, considering who he represents.
