Teenager Unlocks iPhone

George Hotz, the soon-to-be college student from New Jersey who unlocked the iPhone for use on wireless carriers other than AT&T via a complex hardware method that involves soldering internal components and using a number of command line utilities, has traded the unlocked device for a Nissan 350Z and three 8GB iPhones.

wow, they spent years creating that phone, probably over 100 people were involved in creating that phones software, and making it hacker proof. Only to be owned by a 17 year old kid.

Repost btw. And this kid is stupid. He coulda sold the "how-to" secret himself. Imagine at just 10$ a guide, if he sold it to at least 100,000 people he'd have WAY more money than a 350z and three i-phones.

I believe he ended up getting a new car and 4 iphones for the one he cracked. WInning bidder was some small cellphone vendor. They said they had no plans at the moment to capitalize on the cracked phone just yet.
