There has got to be a draw back to it, that they aren't mentioning. This seems too good to be true.

It's all good and fair, but it doesn't mean anything until I know how much the car is gonna cost. Revolutionary new inventions never come cheap!

Being an automotive connoisseur myself, I've signed up to WindingRoad magazine and have read an article about another particular vehicle of this kind. They say there will be a GT version which will get 87mpg while achieving 0-60mph in 9sec. and a top speed of 137mph. Another 2+2 seater will achieve up to 156mpg codenamed the Loremo or "Low Resistance Mobile". The design of the car is actually quite nice considering I love performance cars such as Ferrari, Lambos, and Corvettes go.

Too bad big oil companies will try and keep this thing off the market so that they can still rake in their money.

Also, has anyone heard of the Opel Eco-Speedster?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvKYUM5NkWk
It's a diesel powered car that gets about 113 mpg.
Too bad there are no plans for a production model.

Of course the big companies know about the possibilities available out there. Many of them have spent, and will continue to spend large sums of money to continue research. However, think about it, if you are a huge automotive company, what best than to allow consumers or the general public with their private-smaller companies to research new forms of fuel, more efficient cars, etc. Then, you send 2 guys with a contract, and a seven or eight figure check to buy them out. Then, you do with the technology whatever you want.

At this point, automotive companies are trying to squeeze as much money out of what sells. They don't care if electric cars are the future. A corporations essential motive to is to make money, it's what "drives" them, lol.

Has anyone heard of the Ford hydraulic hybrid? On the F-150 platform, 60mpg. No joke.

notice that they did not specify how much cheaper than the typical production method their carbon fiber was. and cars are made out of so many different parts because when one thing breaks, that one thing needs to be replaced. when you start consolidating multiple functions in to single pieces, maintenance costs go through the roof, on top of the fact that every part on this vehicle is specialized, and therefore incredibly pricey to begin with.

I also find it hilarious that so many people actually need corporate motives explained to them, and are then surprised that the goal is to make money. wtf is wrong with you people? its a business. the goal of a business is not to better the world, or save the whales, or make love to trees; its to make money. very self-explanatory.

This is all well and good for commuter cars. but i drive a dodge diesel truck. Why? because i have a 24' enclosed car trailer that i need to tow around. and so i have a diesel truck, and i drive it every day. it gets 18mpg out of a 5.9l engine that generates 215hp. and when you consider the fact that diesel engines only operate at half the rpm of gas engines, 215hp is incredible. when people need nothing more than to get from point a to point b some time today, then these cars are fine. but if you want to pull anything, carry a lot of people, or get somewhere fast, the current technology is the way to go.

intelligent environmentalists have been driving diesel cars for over 20 years now, because diesel is more efficient, generates more power, is cheaper than gas barrel for barrel, and pollutes less. and please, someone say diesel pollutes more because you can see the smoke. go ahead, and prepare to feel like an idiot. even the racing world is starting to adopt diesel. audi is running diesel le mans cars, and they are sweeping the series, generating more power, at lower rpm, lower engine wear, better fuel mileage, and far less noise than the gas competition. the next step is a diesel hybrid, which the railways have been using for decades. a diesel engine operating at low speed is used to generate electricity to power large electric motors. its the most efficient mode of ground travel in existence, and all these hybrid idiots are too ignorant to realize that this "revolutionary marriage of the internal combustion engine and electricity" has been under their noses for ages, in a far more refined and efficient form than they are producing

^^^^^^^Carbon fiber is 10x stronger than steel so its going to take 10x more force to break...also the car is way lighter than a bigger car so not as much force will be applied in a collision....thus making it more expensive to replace but 10x more likely its not going to...also i have insurance....
