really xnsdvd? The Chinese culture is responsible for this? The Chinese have been living in Easter Asia for 5000 years, if there was something fundamentally wrong with the culture they wouldn't have survived this long.

If anything the Chinese should call the Western culture "ridiculous". We take showers twice a day even when we are not dirty, just because we CAN.

Anyways, to put the video in perspective, any country going through its industrial revolution will greatly damage the environment. When the US was going through it, air near Chicago was said described to be "unbreathable"... (read China Shakes the World by James Kynge)

Historically it gets better, however the Chinese government is so bent on progress that it might ignore some severe impacts caused by it longer other countries, which will make these people suffer more... we can only hope that this will not be the case.

The problem with communism is that it always been a ONE party system. There is no incentive to care for your consituents when as long as you in the party's favor (bribes, friendship, connections) you'll get re-elected.

Before it was a one party system trying to literally control every aspect of life. Now it a one party system trying to make as much money as possible.

How long ago was our industrial revolution? Luckily today we are smart enough to know this kind of thing hurts us but China has a Napoleon complex and wants to be the world leader so bad they are willing to risk millions of lives.

With the way things are going, i would suspect China would be hurt very much so by their shoddy manufacturing. The main source of income. They have poor infrastructure, poor health care, poor air/water/soil. So keep poisoning your people China, it will not help you in the long run.

The problem isn't culture, though it could be. It's the current human-centric mentality that transcends most countries and culture. There is certain bigotries Chinese culture, I'll concede that, but don't go spewing some bullshit about how capitalism or free markets will solve it- those things are the supreme manifestations of ignorance that is manifest destiny of Earth or the Universe.

To all people who give any country or people's shitte about the environment, if you still eat meat, then shut the fuck up. You contribution to the destruction of Earth should be the first problem that is tackled.
