More like stay out of North America.
These guys have a pretty solid range in the U.S., and the similar Hobo Spider hangs out in the Pacific North-West and into Canada.
THe Necrosis that this guy experienced is extremely rare.

But, to be safe, wear gloves when you move wood piles, etc. :)

My daughter was bitten by one of those lil buggers.Luckily we caught it right away. Not too much necrotic damage, just several trips to the doctor daily for debridement and antibiotics.Only a small scar today. We were lucky.Quick response is crucial or else you wind up with something like what was in this vid.Yuck!

^^then why the fuck did watch it,

Its rather educational more than gross, it shows you how not to be ignorant and ignore the bite, thinking that you are the shit and nothing will happen.

Friends of mine caught a brown recluse in british colombia, he called me over cuz he said he caught a wierd looking spider. So i go over and hes got the ugliest brown recluse under a goldfish bowl. Not knowing what it was at the time we brought it over to another friends moms work, shes a vet, and she absolutly FREAKED OUT.

Typically, you'll never see these spiders. They hide in dark corners, in shoes, in attics, hence their name. Bites can be lethal, but only if undetected. But im sure you'll notice a bite cuz it looks gross and is painful as hell.

"Dont go to mexico"

Maybe the population of BR spiders in mexico is greater than that of other places in north america. To not go somewhere for fear of something you most likely wont encounter is dumb. Im sure alot of ppl go to mexico and have a great fuckin time. Some come back with horror stories like the one we just watched.

I've seen several brown recluses growing up in the southern United States and they don't look menacing at all. We call them fiddle backs because they have a marking that looks like a fiddle. They're unassuming little spiders and I've seen deeper scars than that one.

Living in Tennessee they are so common. I have a friend who has been bitten by them so many times he's actually near immune to them now.

We also have Black Widows, fun fun fun.

thats not a bad bite. i saw a guy who had a 4 inch by 5 inch hole in his thigh that was 1 1/2 inches deep. he had surgery 2 remove some of the dead flesh an had 2 have an open wound for 2 weeks while the body did its stuff. then he got some skin grafts.

those spiders are everywhere in california. i see one about every 3-4 months

yuck man. must be creepy to see your own flesh just turn into rotten junk. no skin grafts? looked kind of bad, but not as bad as some ppl are saying it could be. looks like the damage wasn't too deep though.

i always find it interesting how creatures with such deadly or damaging poisons can live with the poison in them. what if the poison leaked out of their containment and spread?

someone should post the picture of the guys hand after he got bit. I believe he decided to help science and record it and not get treatment. That was until his hand started to rot off
