They probably voted it down because most of these programs are sensational bullshit. That doesn't necessarily mean they're not entertaining...just don't take it too seriously.

i wonder what health insurance company funded this poor excuse for a documentary. The world depicted here is the most unamerican society i've ever seen, no thanks, just let me die.

Ignoring the obvious fascist insurance company propaganda, I do firmly believe the advancements they speak of in this little bit aren't that improbable. Yes, comparing it to the dreams in the 50's about flying cars by the year 2000 probably makes it seem extravagant...

But, looking at the progress of any field of science over the last hundred years and you can clearly see that it moves with nearly an exponential growth. We build on the foundation of what our predecessors built, and that foundation grows by every generation, giving the next generation better tools to gain more knowledge and technology. So why didn't we have flying cars by 2000? In my opinion the foundation for it just wasn't there, such as the need for better computer hardware and engines for aviation.

Although, I do not believe all this is JUST around the corner, because there are other factors other than development which can slow down our progress, such as testing and funding. But maybe the most important one is acceptance in society. Just looking at technology such as gene- and stem cell-manipulation, which can mean a promising future for many sick and injured people, but which shunned by large parts of many cultures.

I wonder if those yankees actually believe what they say. Hilarious and sad at the same time. But they're kinda right such a crappy health insurance could only be that way in a country like america.
