Hey, it's the consumer fault and partially the members of the board fault. Demand and supply. Actions and consequences. Keep demand cheaper stuff...and somebody got to cut corners. Most Americans fail to realized that after lunch, they have depended on half the people in the world.
Fail to realized many companies subcontract to cheaper companies that hire child labor, have abusive practices, basically keeping workers in a concentration camp. Yet they turn a blind eye.
Quarterly inspections are a joke; keep the children/sick workers home for a day, clean up the place, show the inspector only what he needs to see.

Why would someone accept such horrific conditions? If you were promise a better life/better job and all u have to do is to pay a someone to get you there (either across the country, or to another country). Most rural folks in third world countries are very naive/nice/illiterate and can be easily manipulated by word of mouth or contracts they can't read. Your parents can barely afford to support you; and are so happy when you accept this offer. Once there you basically become an indenture servant, with debts that seem you can't get out of. You don't know the way home, or have the means/money to get home. You don't want to burden your parents even more by coming home with more debts or to see you sick with cancer from factory chemicals.

Does all the material stuff make you any happier? Making a difference, helping someone fills the soul, not buying stuff.
