^^The screen itself doesn't have to be cracked, but what's behind it... I've had a camera that had a cracked LCD... If it's off, you can't tell it's cracked...

Go read on LCD's. Just because the outer part of it doesn't have any physical damage, doesn't mean the molecules within the LCD aren't misaligned. Once they're misaligned, you can get the look displayed by this video.
