VEry interesting stuff.
I particularly like what he said around 9:30 into it.
Atheist is only a title one labels them self with when in a religious discussion. It is not a way of defining oneself daily.

Really good upload Jonas. Looking forward to the next part.
Hopefully this clears up some of the misunderstandings many spiked users have towards atheists.

I hope so, far too often i have seen Atheism referred to as a religion. I'm glad you enjoyed it, there are 2 more episodes i'm going to upload in the coming days.

My favorite quote it refers to is by Seneca -
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful"

But there are many great ones, like from Aristotle
"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion, subjects are less apprehensive of evil treatment from a ruler whom they consider god fearing and pious. On the other hand they do less easily move against him believing he has the gods on his side"

Jonas...I think...I think I'm in love with you...

Seriously, though, Everything you share is gold. Your taste is impeccable and your additions here provide a needed respite from lancing abscesses vids and clips of martial arts. So thank you. Really.

Maybe we could...we could, I dunno, just get together and watch documentaries together, y'know, on the futon, eating popcorn...maybe naked...?

Us Spikedhumor users sure are pretty atheist judging by the videos and comments. And we can be humbly proud of it. :)

I personally think religion is nothing more than a way of making people do morally right things by using the prospect of going to heaven but especially the fear of going to hell.
Fear has been known, since the dawn of humankind, to be a powerful mean of controlling other beings. All the people that started religions used it well.

I mean, what is the ultimate way you could talk fear into someone that was as gullible as the people in the time it was written? Well, I'd say "YOU'LL FEEL THE WORST PAIN IN YOUR LIFE, FOREVER!"

"Oh, and if you listen to me, you'll get the best what you could ever have, also forever.

Yeah, it's at my dad's place. He's cool. You like beer? Yeah he got it.. 10 million fridges dude.. your favorite brand!"

But aaanyway..
Look what they did.. what started out with a few simple minded people that wanted to make people do good, has gone way out of hand. A vast amount of people around the world have been born and raised with altered ideas of reality.

With all due respect, I see religious people as gullible people that don't look further than what they are told.
After years of feeding religious thoughts into young minds, they pass a point of allowing themselves to think otherwise. The fear of it all being right and having to pay for their sins because they abandoned their faith, prevents them from it.

I have been raised with religious thoughts but I have always doubted it. The more I developed my sence of logic, the clearer it became what it all is.

Yet, I have to say, there are truths in the bible. If you read between the lines, ignore the magic, you'll read a few wise lessons wich do make you a good person if you follow them.
Not all, but alot.

So in short, I respect the bible and I respect religious people that are warm and caring for one another, but I disagree and Ifeel sorry for those who have taken the wise book too far and take it as the direct truth.

Oh, 5/5 for the vid. ;)

^ good stuff mindless,

My only counter would be that I think you could learn the same "wise lessons" without the Bible. Just my opinion though.

ROFL, I just noticed, the view count when I was viewing it, was 666! I have a screenshot.
"Oh no! It's a sign of Satan! He is trying to lure me into disobeying God and fuel my atheism!"

@ LeighCedar:
Yes you can, and I have learnt the wisest lessons NOT from the Bible. I have only partly read it. But I'm saying you can learn lessons from it. :)

Comment made at 5:30 was un true.

"Only faith in heaven blah blah blah would make somebody do such an act"

What about the japanese pilots of the second world war? They killed themself for a cause too. And as far as i know, they was not promised a paradise, or threatened with a hell.

As for all these people saying, if there is a God why is there so much bad things in the world, why does he allow it.

The question we should be asking, is why do we allow it, when we are in a position to work together and do something about it, instead of blaming something we cannot see.

God to me is the energy the universe is made of, the thing we are all made of. So there is a God, the word God is just wrongly defined. Maybe the word God does not really suit my belief.

Maybe i should use the term "First Cause" or "Source of the Universe"

"I personally think religion is nothing more than a way of making people do morally right things by using the prospect of going to heaven but especially the fear of going to hell."

There was another dude who said, "religion gives good people bad reasons to do good things." There are plenty of completely logical and rational reasons do do what is morally right with no interference whatsoever from god fear.

Religion is a way of controlling the behavior of primitive people using fear and has no bearing on the lives of sapient human beings in the 21st century. When we want to be manipulated through fear, we'll watch FOX News.

To jamesb28,

The pilots of Japan, as well as the imperial army, believed that their emperor was the descendant of the sun god, and that their peoples were the chosen people. That's thiesm, and that shitte needs to go. Read up on some history before you post shitte.

Fuck Theism, and anti-progressives.

Ohh yeah. Thanks Jonas. Keep it strong. Adopt some kids. Theists still out number us because they have no concept of overpopulation. Have some blood kids for sure, but get some more.

They fuckers indoctrinate the young and innocent. Just give yours a good education. I will do the same.

Peace.
