ok im not going even to blame the cops for not being there fast enough...

1. the kid couldve put his car in neutral and pushed
2. hazards
3. cameraman shouldve been a good samaritan
4. and ppl def should have slowed down, period

from what i can tell the original driver attempted to move the vehicle, but gave up when he realized the danger he was in.

heeero, im sorry but that's just a fucking retarded comment..
It's night time, and there are cars flying by you at 80 miles an hour. they cant see your car, or YOU. So to stand in traffic and try to push your car through lanes would be suicide. More often than not, your car wont even start, let alone drive after an impact. and in an impact the wheels are almost always affected and wont rotate/turn even if it were in neutral.
What they should have done was run up the highway doing everything they could to warn the oncoming cars to slow down

i don't know if i would've been able to stop in time in this situation but i don't understand why so many people got into the pile up. drivers are supposed to pay attention to what's going on in front of them. it was night but the weather seemed ok, i think this was in LA but i might be wrong. people should've at least been able to see the brake lights, hear the crashes, and see stopped cars from a distance. might be that the ground was uphill so they couldn't see far ahead? probably people only look at the tailights of the car directly in front, so if the first person in front crashed, the next person won't have time to stop, and so on. but they seemed to have a lot of space in between. the last few drivers must not be looking because there was a whole wall of totalled cars sitting right there. meh. like ppl already posted, pay attention to the road :s especially at night. be safe

I think the screaming and the crashing sounds and the shouting of " MIKE !! GET OUT OF THE ROAD !!! " make this video a bit more disturbing than something rated for ALL AGES...

this was on the 101 fwy in los angeles as you enter Hollywood from the San Fernando Valley. At least one cop died. It happened around 3:30am. Pitch black right after the crest of a hill. As a result of the hill, nobody could see the car broken down in front of them. There was no warning.

I was on that fwy the next day, around 2:40pm going to work. The fwy was still shut down all the way at highland ave (101s). Due to the fact that this is the primary artery into the busiest part of los angeles, delays were about 90 min. to travel 4 miles. I saw one of the cars in daylight. Try to imagine a soda can crushed together and then pulled back out.

Almost as ironic, I was delayed earlier on that same commute in a different area due to an unrelated accident. I thought I saw it all until I got off at Highland Ave and was delayed by 2 (!) more accidents right off the fwy due to the bottleneck. Thats 4 different accidents in one 20 min commute. L.A. is a bitch to drive in.

this whole thing started because the very first car was trying to do some sort of stunt for his cameraman friend, but he ended up stalling it and getting stuck

My wife was driving that route that Sunday. Took her 3 hours to do a 35 minute drive to West Covina from Sherman Oaks. That was around 12pm 8 1/2 hours after the accident. Police officer died, I'm thinking the motorcycle in the clip was his.
