What he failed to mention was that half of the movie I felt like I was watching Chevy and GMC car commercial.. Michael Bay, you're sellout!!!
Also, the complexity of robots was waaay too much. I wish they'd keep em a little more simple..

^ First of all, you can't walk around in daily life without it being one huge advertisement, there's no reason why a movie should go to extra lengths just to make it seem any different, and there's also no reason why they shouldn't get a bit of extra cash for it.

Second, there was nothing wrong with the complexity of the robots, if you imagine just how advanced they would have to be to be able to transform like that in the first place, there's no way they could be any simpler. Next, go watch the cartoon and try and tell me that doesn't look completely lame being so simple, the transformations hardly even make sense, let alone look any good.

Third, you're complaining for the sake of complaining, that's not how a critic works.

And to the video, the movie didn't take itself too seriously, that's why the humor was fine, and who the hell cares about love stories? I figured that was just filler to move between the different scenes, and then they elaborated on it just a little bit to maybe meet the female population half way.

The only thing I agree with is the ending was a bit of an anticlimax, as in it felt like it should've been longer ... but, for how awesome the movie was, you can look past a lot of that sort of thing.

Don't complain for the sake of complaining, you're just being a tool.

Pretty solid review.
Good movie.

If you are a transformers fan, awesome movie.
If not, still a pretty fun (if not exactly OScar caliber) movie.

To those who say this was a commercial for GM. WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK THE ORIGINAL SHOW WAS? The reason transformers was put on the air in the first place was to sell the toys. Don't pretend there was some grand vision behind the original cartoon.

^I enjoyed the movie but they did take product placement to a new level. They were overt with some of the plugs like the Hummer, the Solstice and the new Camaro all being Autobots. They were a little more devious in others, like making one of the bad guys, Barricade, a Ford Mustang. In the original cartoon he was a formula one racer.

Im a transformer fan, the only complaint I would make is megatron looks. The last 30 mins where disapointing since all the shots where close ups while all the actions take place. In comparaison, think about 2 people fighting each other, each time they 'attack' or make a move, the cameraman would zoom infinitly on his t-shirt or the buckle of his belt. Everytimes that movie was starting to have nice battles, zoom on a danm robot piece and try to figure whats going on. Oh... and one more thing that I hated most, All transformers can 'remodel' himself. Bumble bee redesigned himself (wtf) and the Radio robot that it been cutted in half remodels himself into a cellphone (WTF).

Otherwise, the movie was visualy stunting, but personnaly, I think it could have been way better. They could have named the movie into anything else : Cars that transforms, Robots from a distant planet or even 'GM gone mad'. They only took the idea of transformers since it was a good hit back then and even now.

the whole movie was an ad-placement frenzy. for instance, when an xbox360 and a mountain dew vending machine turned into transformers.. i wish there were no humans in this movie, it would have been nice to have seen a CG movie like the one from 1980's.

^ Celestor has a point. last 30 minutes in my opinion were too zoomed in too. Agreed that Megatron looked like shit (could've stuck with the original look, honestly, would've looked more wholesome), and I honestly didn't like the idea that they copied other types of cars as soon as they arrived. In the cartoon series, they were made as is already.
But other than that, I wasn't too disappointed. After all, the nostalgia factor heavies in during the fight scenes. Brings back old memories of the cartoon version of it. Looking forward to Transformers 2 and Hotrod! ;)
