I wish I had a bunch of those mortars for 4th of july to mess around with. At a live show these things are LOUD, they literally shake the ground your standing/sitting on.

You know, $250 a day doesn't seem like a lot...

If you figure they don't take ANY taxes out, and they work 365 days a year (both conditions of which don't exist) that's $90k.

If they work Monday-Friday, then it's $65k. But they don't put on shows Monday-Friday ALL YEAR ROUND... so....

My local cops who stand in front of my local movie theater ALL DAY (literally). I know them all by now too, they switch off but generally it's the same ones all the time, make $40/hour plus regular pay, plus weekends, plus when they work MUCH overtime. (And they work CONSTANTLY because our movie theater is rated #1 in New England (Randolph's Showcase Cinema) so these guys make MUCH more than these pyrotechnics.... and they do NOTHING but direct traffic (and none of them have ever been in an accident).

It's interesting to consider how much more of a risk these guys face but get so much less than cops. Jeez, cops make a lot when you think about it, and I don't care what anyone says it must be fun to be a cop at least sometimes (action-wise (even if it takes balls and can be very scary sometimes)). I'd take on being a cop for a day!

Diabolo88 an Appendage is your arms, legs, fingers, toes, even your head. Any part of your body separate from your main torso.

Quake:- A Pyrotechnic reaction is very predictable compared to a human beings actions. A random firework is not going to suddenly jump out of a truck and start firing it's payload upon other fireworks, however the criminal element of the human beast has an inclination towards acts comparable to this.

Given the choice of taking the risk of a controlled explosion with a calculated chance of mishap vs improvising a response to the wide range of attacks that a sentient threat poses, I would choose the former and be happy that I could weigh the outcome to a certain degree before the outcome was achieved.

Anything can happen in the uncontrolled evnironment of the line of duty. Conversely, as destructive as some unwanted reactions are, only a small number of situations will occur in a controlled explosion.
