i believe you have to use sugar glass within hours of making it, otherwise it deforms and whatnot.

still seems great for pranks though

I think the cream of tartar was used to make it a yellow color. However, I can be mistaken. Makes more sense just to use food coloring maybe... :S

They don't use sugar glass anymore since the lights heat up the glass and it melts.
