im pretty sure that they had video editing techniques back then... this machine just by the looks of it seems impossible. its like a helicopter without the tail

^^ or it uses the same principle as a jet pack, there is a spaceship that is being developed for commercial use that uses this principle as well. Back then you didn't need to fake this kind of thing dude, you had it or you didn't. Not money wisely spent fooling people.

It's real for sure, saw this once on National Geographic on a documentarie about the tomahawk cruise missile. It uses a type of jet engine (small, powerfull & energie efficient) that was experimented with in the 60's by the US army for jet-packs/platforms like in this video.
