LOL who is the dumbass who did the research for this little presentation......first off lemme go through the flaws that i saw.....first of all jupiter and saturn have around the same concentrations of hydrogen making up their atmosphere (saturn has a more hydrogen rich atmosphere true), but the surface area of jupiter is ALOT bigger than saturn which means MORE hydrogen available for a nuclear chain reaction....so in theory jupiter is a much more volatile spot for a bomb to go off.....secondly a planet does NOT turn into a star. It doesnt happen so i dont think we have that much to worry about......and plus they have scientist working on projects like these that are much more informed than me or anyone else for that matter and ido believe that they also want to live so..... (and p.s. im not tryin to be a dick i just have a bone to pick with all of these end of the world theories)

wtf, saturn is tiny compared to the sun, yet the suns radiation doesnt do anything to us except give us sun burns. its all absorbed in the van allen belts. even if it were possible for 72 pound of nuclear fuel to turn saturn into a star, the effects of which wouldnt do shit to us.

I must agree that this is very implausible. Firstly, all the gas giants "could" have been stars, but they are just too small. Even if a nuclear chain reaction did occur it wouldn't cause Saturn to go into a fusion process.

Nuclear bombs are based on fission. Stars are fusion which is the total opposite.

I'd also like to know why the hell would NASA launch plutonium into space. The fuel used in the rockets is composed of hydrogen. When you see a shuttle take off, the big billowing clouds produced is not smoke but steam. So what exactly would this plutonium that is supposedly being carried with these probes powering?

Seems like a bunch of BS if you ask me. :P
