you can do something similar with a webcam and black photo negative to make an infrared cam. it probably alters the light beam into a compatible frequency

i do the same thing but with my palm, walk into the nearest best buy turn on the HD boxes and change the channels to some porno, or even at school during presentations or when the teacher is playing a video they will get spooked as they are unaware why the tv is turning off the most fun you will ever have get your self a palm
