Hemp ( Weed, mary jane whatever you call it ) was mainly made illegal because of the oil companies for the simple fact that you can have a civilisation worldwide that can sustain itself.

The Hemp plant that weed is made from can be used to make almost anything and hence run an entire world. The problem is that everyone can grow it, so the people who owned the banks and oil companies made it illegal.

Even the founding fathers of America grew Hemp to help fight the British.

I dont even smoke weed yet even I can see the world wide benefit of growing it in every place possible because it can be used for so many things.

For the newbies to Spiked, go search for it on here.

If everyone grew Hemp then there would be no need for war. All the resources for buildings, transport and even recycling would be taken care of.

Thank you for the post. One of the best on Spiked, right up there with the 76 year old triathlete who
brings his disabled son along with him while racing.
Not a big weed smoker myself, nor do I believe that
legalizing hemp will bring about world peace, but Cooper makes a valid point about the punishment not equal to the crime.
I also agree with his suggestion that it should not be taxed if legalized. On the contrary, if everyone in the U.S. was given a $100 tax break for growing at least one hemp plant there would be no black market for weed. Then the government could re-deploy many of it's agents to more productive tasks, like spying on it's own citizens. Sorry, couldn't resist the sarcasm.

"that guy" is Marc Emery. And "that guy" has done more for the pot movement in all its facets, whether medicinal or recreational, etc..., than almost any other person walking the planet today. if you smoke pot and don't know who he is, well, now's your chance to do some reading. he's facing life in jail in the states for his online seed business, which he operated out of canada. may the force be with him and good ganja too.
