In an exclusive interview on TODAY, WWE chairman Vince McMahon backed off claims by his organization that steroids had nothing to do with the murder-suicide of wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and 7-year-old son.

WWE knew something was up before the bodies were found.

The fact that they called the cops a few days later seems extremely shady.

I think they didnt want the bad press before a pay per view. Im sure it will come out that someone knew something beforehand and they turned a cheek for a couple days for the sake of cash.

When he pointed out that he only knew of 5 wrestlers and that she couldn't know if the number 60 that she quoted was true, she acted all smug. If her research was so accurate why could they only locate 3 photos of wrestlers that died from drug use, one of which wasnt even the correct wrestler? They label a picture of Owen Hart as Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart died in a fall.

Then she's putting words in his mouth in an effort to make him the villian in an effort to create a story based on speculation when there is no need since the toxicology report will come out. Not to mention drilling a guy who's not only dealing with the loss of a friend but dealing with the fact that a friend was also a complete psychopath.

and dealing with the fact that his ears have grown twice thier normal size, seriouly look at those things.

WWE does 16 pay per views a year, the amount of money they would lose from one pay per view is nothing compared to the money someone like Benoit generated, all the merchandise that now has to be taken off shelves and the legal fees to defend the company and McMahon from people who like this reporter already want to place the blame before there are any real facts.

Alright people, lets view this situation from a slightly educated perspective....

First and foremost, the "steroid" use... Why is it that people call this out and single-handedly blame this substance? Take note that anabolic steroids are legal in several countries, and there have NOT been any conclusive studies that prove or disprove "roid rage". What HAS BEEN PROVEN of steroids is that it causes liver damage, increased blood pressure, acne and increased amounts of estrogen in the human body.The latter is credited towards the endocrine system trying to balance an increased level of testosterone in the body.( This is why taking steroids can cause some men to have "man breast") Please, reconsider what is to blame here, I am no pro-steroid activist, but I am neither a zombie that is blinded and controlled by media hype.

What person systematically kills there family in a course of a weekend? This is sadly a man of many conflicted issues.... If anything, blame his upbringing, morals,the pressure of his career, his obligations to a son that was mentally retarded, and his unstable marriage. Come on guys....


And to add...Of course WWE is not going to put blame on themselves, it's a smart business move and it keeps them in the good light!!

I think Vince beat that ho up! Seriously though, McMahon really had his act together, took all that was thrown at him, and handled it all very well. She tried to make him look bad, but ended up looking bad in the end.

She talks about all these dead wrestlers as though they died under Vince's care. All but 5 weren't even under contract to the WWE at the time of their demise. Some weren't even wrestling anymore. So by her standards does that mean if an ex NFL player dies several years after leaving the sport, that the sport should be blamed? Stop the scapegoating. I have to say, Vince handled himself really well there in the face of a reporter who obviously had a vendetta to blame the WWE for Benoit's actions. Yeah we all know a lot of these guys have/had taken steroids... and it was probably condoned or encouraged in the past but like he says, they have a program to test for it and he was tested recently. Doesn't mean that this asshole should not be responsible for his actions. It's like blaming any sports organisation for the actions of an individual, you can only do so much.

Sadly, Bruce Hart, one of the wrestler that trained Benoit and brother to Owen Hart, the wrestler that the producers incorrectly labeled as Davey Boy Smith, said the following of Benoit:

Chris Benoit was a "delusional juice freak" ... "who chased the dark side and had trouble distinguishing between his fictional character and reality." and that the last time he saw Benoit he "was in pretty rough shape mentally."
