He forced the card (either by having a second one, or by doing it during the cut scene) to the top of the deck, Red side faced up. Once there, during the few seconds before he flipped the deck, he brought out the very edge of the card (where the blue part is). Once there, he just held onto it while flipping.

Just a thought.
