undefeated and clearly the best MMA fighter in the sport's history


i know technically he lost a match, but it was due to an illegal (accidental) elbow to the face that opened up a big cut on his eye. The fight was stopped for safety reasons and WOULD have been a draw, but it was in a tournament so a winner had to be decided, so for the sake of the tournament's progression, he lost, but it was truly a draw

well technically the UFC owns him now anyways, seeing as they bought pride. But I agree, hes the best MMA fighter to date.

Don't look like he's going to re-sign, he's doing it for the money...bunch of companys are willing to pay him more.

Emelianenko is an MMA god, I truly believe there isn't one fighter that can beat him as of right now. He would crush anyone in UFC and has crushed everyone there is to crush in Pride. I'd have to say his best fight was the heavyweight finals at the 2005 Pride GP against Cro Cop. And for anyone that thinks Cro Cop is done just cause he lost one fight, doesn't know shit about MMA. Anyone can get knocked out on any day. It doesn't mean their career is done. Cro Cop was and still is one of the top 3 fighters on the planet, just cause he got knocked out doesn't mean anything. Everyone's been knocked out before. Everyone except Fedor, that's why he's the best.

He hit some of those dudes so hard he caused a lens flare (and an explosion sound).

I think maybe he's so good because of a combination of intense cardio (he just doesn't get gassed like the other big guys) and his raw explosive power. He doesn't just go in wailing on his opponent, he wears them down until he explodes and hurts them so bad they're done, son!

I think that fight was deemed a no-contest, so his record is still clean.

diddlepickle, well said. It's a fight, anything can happen, and in mma usually does. Anyone can be knocked out, and absolutely everyone has a punchers chance. Not to take anything away from Gonzaga though. Cro cop got caught, it happens. He's still a viscious fighter
