^Yeah I saw that vid, and it was pretty darn good.
That being said, I think you are completeley wrong. The two can't be compared. Pavarotti is the greatest opera singer of all time, and is on a whole different level.

No offense to Pavarotti, or the guy from 'Britain's Got Talent', but I think Andrea Bocelli beats both of them in terms of emotion and beauty.. Pavarotti doesn't evoke any feelings here, whereas that Paul guy did, even though his voice work was a bit sloppy..

Bocelli beats Pavarotti in emotion and beauty? That vid you posted from the other site, Bocelli appears to be barely awake! Pavarotti's performance was MAGNITUDES more emotional and beautiful.

Anyone else who's heard this before notice how he doesn't quite hit that note at 0:57? I looked it up and this isn't him at his best. The aria was transposed a half-step lower at this performance, in consideration of the singer's age.

Pavarotti is better than any of these new guys on these Pop Idol and British bullcrap stuff. Pavarottti is a legend; he's 71 years old and still blows everyone out of the water. He is a living musical icon. Bravo!

Comparing Bocelli to Pavarotti is like comparing Michael Flattley to Mikhael Barishnikov--apples to oranges. Pavarotti is an opera singer, trained for that genre. Bocelli is a cross-over star, more accomplished with faux-classical and pop than with opera. Both have nice voices, but Pavarotti in his prime kicks Bocelli's petooter in opera. And Luciano is 71, for cripes sake!
