^beorn, you will be looking at one picture, but now you can see it from a dozen different angles, go inside, look at all the details of anything in the world. it may not seem practical or useful at this time, but google earth wasnt/isnt yet its still immensely used.

this is probably already in use for the military/ police / emergency for various purposes

That was pretty cool, I bet when he was talking about the Book using text and not being an actual picture, I bet it uses vectors like how flash uses vectors.

To keep it simple vectors are basically math formulas that draw an image and you can zoom in how ever much you want and the formulas re-calculate to re-draw the new image everytime you zoom in or out.
