seems probable, i was more surprized about all the craters...

I wonder how many times the moon took a hit for our planet? Once? twice? one thousand times over?

I'll say it before and I'll say it again, this guy's theory is wrong. The "Seas" on the Moon weren't created by "new lands spreading outwards" but your everyday lunar volcanic activity. Nowadays it appears that there are no more active lunar lava flows, but saying that there were none in the past is insanity. The Moon isn't getting bigger, and neither is the Earth. If that were true, why aren't there massive empty spaces in the Earth's mantle where these "new lands" have come from? How does a "growing" planet manage to stay relatively round with massive structural weaknesses riddling its surface?

Yeah I would think satellite data could confirm is theory if it was true. I think it looks cool though. I heard him on coast to coast am radio show talking about this.

One of the more interesting lunar facts I heard was that the moon is leaving us at the rate of one inch per year. (They know this because one of the Apollo missions placed a mirror for a laser beamed from earth to bounce off of and give accurate measurements)

Considering the stabilizing effect the moon has on our planet, experts theorize that once the moon is cast off in to space, the earth's axis will begin to wobble wildly. The result will be devastating to life on earth.

ok, planetary bodies do get bigger, over a long long long long long time. during the hadean eon the earth was 40% it's present radius. accumulation of stellar debris does account for it. in the FULL video he claims that the plate tectonics are not responsible for continental drift, which would make sense if we didn't have a moon, or the new material appeared out of nowhere in the very center of earth causing it to expand from within.

Shibboleth how can you confirm this theory isn't true, the massive empty spaces on earth are being covered by water, minus the water and impact craters earth and the moon wouldn't look to different. This is the first time I've ever heard this theory but it seems to have some common ground in it. But even it could be real I don't think it would lead to any groundbreaking discovery, except that our sun could be getting bigger which could be the cause of the heat changes over the past years. As for the staying round part, isn't that a result of gravity?

Interesting hypothesis, but I saw a video recently where somebody(possibly the same person) claimed the earth was getting bigger and then said no other planets were - therefore, earth is the center of the universe and god-did-it. Makes me suspicious of this video...

No, the Earth is not getting bigger and no, the Moon is not either. I've already countered this in the video about Earth getting bigger.

This man is good at presenting rational sounding arguments, however, the facts don't support his hypothesis. I'm tired of people like this and the pseudo science they peddle. I could give you many points as to why his reasoning sucks but I won't bother. You can probably get a good understanding of the moon from books or even wikipedia, then come back and see if his little story makes any sense.

BTW the Moon is going to stabilize at an orbit further away from the Earth than it is now, but we won't lose the Moon.

I like listening to these 'ideas' (Not scientific theories), because they really make you think outside the box. Truthfully, no matter how well founded theories are, we should challenge ourselves to question what is widely known. Of course, it hardly means that this idea is anywhere near true. There is hardly any proof in citing 'common sense'. If people want to continue pushing this idea, then they need proof.

I also wanted to add that I don't like how people seem to think that the material is coming out of nowhere, like it was being magically created. It's more like the material is being expunged from the super-dense cores where the material already was.

As unlikely as it may seem, this could be true. Just look at the past when people thought the Earth was flat and it was the center of the universe. For them, the idea of a round planet and the Earth was revolving around the Sun was insanity.

@ Emperor Testicles

DUDE, are you serious? 1 inch a year!??? So like in 15 billion years the moon MAY just stop orbiting our earth and have devastating effects?

Seriously now.. even if it was more like 500 million years, why would we give a damn? If you ask me there's gonna be A LOT worse shit goin' down in that time frame then the Earth losing it's gravitational pull on the moon.

Sure the fact is interesting.. but is it significant? Sorry man..

Almost all his arguements are complete logical fallacies, I mean hes going in the complete opposite direction of the scientific method. In science you have an observation and you create a theory for that observation, in this case he has a theory and hes looking for observations to support his theory. Its complete backward logic, the fact is the scientific community doesnt support the Expanding Earth Theory because they choose the best theory based on the observations. The fact is techtonic plate movement best fits the collected data and as does an ungrowing moon.
