I love how movies, even movies more recent than this one, depict line traces as something that takes a certain amount of time and can`t be completed once the caller hangs up. There is no such thing as an untraceable call from a POTS line. The only real way to make a mostly untraceable call is to get a prepaid cell phone, and even then they can triangulate your general location if you don`t ditch the phone or at least turn it off.
