Bigger plane, more people will die when it crashes

amazing engineering feat!

more seats... they better lower the price! Or i'll complain to my economics professor!

5/5!

I kind of agree with Levelord, if terrorist have access to some kind of AA missile or 'anything' to make plane crash, they will do it.

There's 500+ pax onboard, when was the last time a suicide bomber killed more than 500 at once?

I know I shouldn't look at it in a pessimistic way but if something goes horribly wrong (touch wood hope it doesn't) there's alot of lives at stake.

But still I think this plane is the most astonishing thing human being ever achieved to create. 5/5

when i see these kinds of thing, i trully take a moment to apreciate mans appetite for a better life and the people who made it possible to create the once thought "impossible".
If it werent for people such as the wright brothers, aviation engineering would probably be set back a long time. The airbus wouldn't probably be thought of, until the next 100 years. I just hope they find an easier better way to help people who ride economy class, to have more leg room without reducing the amount of seats also to get that engine noise being so loud.

thank god we have people who think about these things, to compensate for the rest that dont. If no one created it, it would be a world with idiots.

So, what should it have been at the drawing board? Bigger to accommodate more people or faster? But the minds behind this great engineering feat considers incorporating both... bigger, faster, and more efficient by implementing latest technology. It's the way to go.

Heck, people die too on a single-prop plane. People die if anything goes horribly wrong.

These Engines passed my house they were HUGE. The trucks carrying them were so wide they took up 2 lanes, and Derby came to a stand still. A while later the airbus flew over my house in tribute to the Rolls Royce people who helped build the engines. I suppose that's the madness I have to endure living on the same street as Rolls Royce.

Sure this thing is a huge passenger aircraft but i don't think in this day and age of terrorism it would really take off (no pun intended)

With all the paper manuals digitalized, what happens in the event of a electrical/mechanical failure of the cockpit? how are they going to access the info?

It looks great but they better have lots of good looking bathrooms with those bars and passenger numbers.

For the technology and resources available i think Howard Hughes' (Leonardo Dicaprio played him in The Aviator) H4 Hercules was a more impressive aircraft if youre talking size. It's specs off wikipedia:
Length: 218 ft 8 in (66.65 m)
Wingspan: 319 ft 11 in (97.54 m)
Height: 79 ft 4 in (24.18 m)

Sure, it only flew a mile for one test flight but for its time I think that would have been bloody magnificent.

Like the reporter says, could be another Concorde where nobody bothers to buy them...

Didn't they think to ask anyone if they wanted a super jumbo before spending +10 Billion dollars?

Hey DaVyWaVyBaBy...do you live in Derby? I live in Derby too! It sucks! Thank god I go to Manchester uni. I saw the fly over too, I live right around the corner to the Derby Rolls-Royce.

I also doubt these things will sell, I mean, one that landing weight is ridiculous, theres far too few airports that would accept that, and when they do they are going to trash the airline for it. The second part is when running an airline, especially today, people expect there to be flights when they want them, meaning on a busy route multiple per day, I'd like to see all the cost analisys of this plane or how many seats you would have to sell to break even.

@echo80:
This plane was designed in collaboration with the carriers and 159 have been sold so far.... But they still need to sell 300 more to break even( that will be hard... )
